Guide to Enable Video Mirroring on your Apple iPad..

by Jimmi on May 11, 2011

The powerful Apple iPad 2 is out now since March and a lot of reviews are done, features and specs are available on the internet in details. Well let’s have a look at a key feature that’s the ability to mirror the Apple iPad 2′s screen to a HD monitor or TV using one of Apple’s display adapters.

This is really awesome feature, If only we could do the same on our trusty iPad 1s. Well we are really thankful to MacStories that posted a jailbreak hack detailed in one of their blog post. Now yes this thing is really possible and can be done but it will impact the iPad performance a little. And here I must pay thanks to Jailbreak of iOS 4.3.1 done by REDSN0W. So, onto the hack itself.
- Navigate to system/library/coreservices/springboard.app
- Download the K48AP.plist file to your computer
- Add the string “display-mirroring boolean YES”.

- Upload the newly edited file back to your poor unsuspecting iPad & restart it.
- Start video mirroring using either the VGA or Digital AV Adapter – with fingers and toes crossed.
If all goes well you should now have the iPad 2′s screen sharing available from your old iPad. Again, don’t expect stellar performance but it should at least work.
